Stanley Lear Designs

This designer is 90 Years Young today. His jewelry designs have been admired by me and many others over the past several years. I just procured a few more for my collection last week! He has a great eye for design.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

C. S. Lewis

Stanley’s friendship and designs came by way of my friendships with his daughter-in-law Charla, his son Steve, and his daughter Kim. Charla and I lived next door to one another in college and finished our undergraduate degrees in Business Education at Missouri State University. Then, a number of years ago, Charla and Steve acquired the farm next to my parents’ farm outside of Weaubleau, Missouri. I reconnected with Charla and Steve in 2012, and we shared many hours of talking (Charla and me!) and laughter since that time.

The love of his life, Velma, at one time worked at the sale barn over at Humansville. My Dad always spoke of her so fondly because one of his favorite past-times was going to the cattle auctions every week. Seeing Velma at the sale barn the night my Dad’s herd auctioned in May 2012 after his passing is especially poignant for me.

Two of the recent designs that Stanley did in earrings include dragonflies and a set with feathers. He also created a bracelet for Charla that represents mala beads (mala means garland in Sanskrit) with a lotus flower intersecting 27 beads, hence you would circle and count the beads four times over. Charla had him create this design for her yoga students. Lucky me, I have one now.
